I read in an online forum whose topic is about NS. Well, we encounter a lot of negative opinions about NS. However, this forum is the opposite. Chech it out.

I think it depends on the individual. During NS, one will think that it's crap and a waste of time but when it's over and when one reminiscence about it, there are actually good memories.
Somehow, I feel it can make quite a good starter topic for a conversation between guys."
So, NS is not a bad thing after all.

I agree that NS is needed in Singapore. Besides training our people, NS also provide jobs to them. Thus it helps to improve our country economic growth!

I think NS is still necessary becoz having a strong army will make other countries think twice b4 they want to attack Singapore.

National Service actually bonded men from many races together. SO in a sense, It's a good thing to have National Service=)

With the training they got during their NS time, our ordinary men who are not part of the security force will know what to do during war or emergency. This will increase the smoothness of getting the women, children and elderly to move to a safer place faster and to prepare the weapon and the necessary equipment to get ready for war as we cannot just depand on our army to protect the country.

Yes.. Small county like ours should have its own armed forces. People should undergo millitary training to prepare themselves and learn more skills and tecniques so as to have better armed forces securing the nation.
Nehru: NS brings Pride to Singapore. If we, as citizens of Singapore, don't support/encourage NS then how will it be possible to ensure the security of our nation. Unity is the core to keep Singapore a safe and secure nation.
Nehru: NS ensures that our boys grow to become men with strength, stature, poise, respect & maturity.
NS instills pride and loyalty into our service men. NS doesn't just benefit the nation but the society as well.
Nehru: I do agree that it is a tough task to defend a small country with an army lacking of manpower, but we can't use that as an excuse to remove NS from Singapore. No matter how big or small the country may be, an army is the most important sector in the government and the nation.
Nehru: Men who served NS say it's tough and rough and there are many rumours that go around saying that unexpected events occur during camps. These statements changes the mindsets of the younger generation about NS, frightening them to serve NS. It is rare to come across a good comment or experience about NS.
If NS was going to be easy and fun,
how is NS going to serve its purpose of securing our nation with rough and tough men. We can't be fighting a war with paint ball guns or water bomb bags. NS is tough and we have to endure it to ensure our own safety. Therefore, I agree that NS is necessary in a small nation like Singapore.
Nehru: National Service is a form of security and pride for a nation. If Singapore doesn't have an army, no one will respect us and invasion will be an easy task. By lacking an army, we are exposing ourselves to external threats. Though we are a small nation, we are proud of the fact that we own most of the state-of-the-art combat technologies and sophisticated warfare equipments, And i Say they are COOL! WE must have a good attitude towards NS and ensure that the NS has our support. NS men are out there, at the frontline of defence, risking their lives every single day just to make sure that we are safe. It kinda unfair to neglect them. Sooner or later the younger generation like me will have to take over.
